Clyburn Statement on Treasury, SBA plan to Disclose PPP Loan Recipients

Press Release

(Washington, DC – June 20, 2020) – Last night, Rep. James E Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis issued the following statement in response to the Treasury and SBA's announcement that they will release a portion of PPP loan recipients:

“Earlier this week, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis wrote to the Trump Administration to demand that they 'release the names of all PPP borrowers.'  I am pleased that today, Treasury and SBA took a step in the right direction by announcing they will release the recipients of ‘nearly 75 percent of the loan dollars approved.’  However, this is far from the full transparency that American taxpayers deserve.  Even when this data is released, Treasury and SBA will still be withholding the identity of nearly 4 million PPP recipients—that is more than 85% of all recipients, who collectively received more than $100 billion in taxpayer money."
